Ibiza - take me back there now!

28 July 2006
SPACEOk, here goes the Ibiza update. It's been a pretty manic week, catching up on work, Lorenzo and Lynda are staying at ours, everything just seems busy busy busy! Hence the delay in an update here and no photos from Ibiza as yet. Also made even more difficult because you can't take cameras into the clubs there. With rumours of bouncers stomping on your camera there was no way were going to even try and bring them in. Jonathon (sp?) did take a couple of photos in Space, but had a bouncer or two come over and politely ask him to put it away :-) Politely, hehehehe. I need a copy Johno!

Anyway I digress. Serena, Lorenzo, Lynda and myself caught the 11:30 flight from Luton. Ok, before that we got the easy bus from Baker St after running into Graham for a beer at the Metropolitan bar. Anyway, The easy bus was actually an easy van and had no windows, luckily we were chatting to the sour, creepy, sleazy bus (van) driver and no one else was there so we sat in the front with him. I have a video of it somewhere... Ok, the plane lands in Ibiza at 2:30 or something and waiting for a taxi to take us into town we bump into Andy and his mate Johno! We pile into a couple of cabs head to the Pacha shop, no idea why really but we re-group then head to an all night cafe kinda place where we all start to fall asleep. At about 6am we decide it's time to try our luck checking into the hotel. Tada! No luck, so we do the next best thing until 9am. We crash on our beach towels in a kids play ground! Whoo Hoo! Just before 9 we head back to the hotel, check in and climb into bed.

Later that Saturday we pop down to the beach and I decide to try windsurfing, man how awesome. Thinking the 10 Euros for an hour is great, the guy asks if I have done it before... hmmm ok no I haven't, so I sign in for a 1 hour lesson. 25 Euros, BAH! Anyway he gives me the lesson and man it is a lot harder than it looks. I bumble about for ages until eventually head off for some windsurfing around the bay. LOVE IT!

We head back to the hotel for a swim. Our apartment slept like 7 people and had a massive balcony, schweeeet! Anyway we decided to pop out for a late stroll, seem the thing to do in Ibiza, really when the place kicks off. Most of the English have been drinking all day so by 11:30 are completely smashed. We wandered to the West end, the real English hang out. Bought cheap tickets for Space for the Sunday Matinee and checked out the market stalls, really just enjoying the vibe of St Antonio at night.

We get to Space at around 10am :-) The DJ in the outside Terrace is just setting up! People are slowly coming in. Ok, we leave Space at around 6pm or so. Hehehe what a mental club!!! Pop back to the hotel for a swim, quick kip then head off to Eden. What a waste of time. Great line up including but not limited to Judge Jules and Lisa Lashes. The place was mad, with podium dancers and the works, but it was full of English drunkards! Talk about taking the edge off! Anyway we head home around 6am just missing another sunrise, oh well.

Checkout is 12, dropping our stuff off at Andy's and the lads place, we head down to Bora Bora which has beach lounges and music pumping. No better way to spend our last afternoon in Ibiza, chilling listening to tunes. We leave the beach at about 11pm. 2:55am flight, 4:37am train, home by 6am, 2 hours sleep, work by 9am.

I would go back to Ibiza in a flash, had I known how awesome the vibe is there, I would have gone years ago and returned every summer. ARGH!!!!!!!!!

Superman IMAX 3D style - Blueman Group

21 July 2006
We saw Superman Returns on Tuesday night at the IMAX cinema, you know the ones, they are about 10 stories high. The last time I saw a movie there it was quite difficult to watch as you couldn't really see all the screen and had to look all over the place. Now with Superman, it had 20 minutes of 3D bits. How cool! Sups flying into your face! So cool! In part it was great to watch due to the fact it was filmed to fit on the IMAX. The movie, as a whole, pretty ordinary really, but super hero movies are always great, so I shan't complain too much :-)

Blueman Group were absolutely amazing, possibly the best £15 I have ever spent in London! Yes even better, well different from the Shunt theatre company. 3 crazy blue dudes just doing the most mental stuff! What an awesome night. See a quick snippet from their show here! As musicians they completely rocked as performers they are amazing! So want to see them again!

Dance-Valley 2006

18 July 2006
Grabbing the 5pm train from Liverpool St station to catch the Ferry from Harwich International to Hoek Netherlands, then train to Amsterdam, is not the easisest of journeys at the best of times. However when you arrive in Amsterdam, after the 7 hour trip and realise that you left the tent on the ferry conveyor belt...let me say, the additional 5 hours of train travel SUCKS BIG TIME!!!

So after finally arriving in Amsterdam at about 8:30am instead of 2:30am. I caught up with Lorenzo and Lynda who had crashed on a wharf for the few hours that I was heading back to get the god dam tent :-) We had breakfast, bumped into a mate of Lynda's, exchanged incorrect train tickets that Lorenzo had bought and now, finally we were on our way to Dance Valley 2006!

Whoo Hoo!!!

After pitching the tent, I tought it would be just as friendly if not more so that Isle of Wight so I said hi to a few neighbours who ignored me or maybe didn't speak Aussie. Hmm Ok, Lynda arrives with the first Puppy of the weekend, Larz who seems a tad drunk but informs us that he doesn't get bluahahag drunk. Hokay! We wander around the venue, checking out all the tents and crazy people enjoying the sun and settle on the Hard House tent. Of course.

Maybe it was no sleep the night before, but at about 8pm I went back to the tent to grab a jumper and promptly crashed. Waking up only to find that in my sleep I had knocked over drink and it had filled the sleeping bag...which was Lynda's DOH! A cold night of no sleeping bag ensured :-)

The next and last day of Dance valley we popped around to pretty much all the tents to sample as many of the DJs we could. We bump into Larz who actually is bluahahag drunk, pretty funny really. Some great sets from some of the worlds greatest DJs. The day seemd to just disappear.

Sunday we left the camp ground pretty early to head to Amsterdam, found a hotel, went for a wander and headed back pretty early. **

Photos from Dance Valley can be found here.

Sunny, Hot, London, Summers Day

05 July 2006
London SmogHere I sit in my 'kind of air-conditioned' office, looking outside to a 32+ degrees day, trying to see across the street. Have you ever seen that much smog? If you are in London, have a look out the window. That's just nuts! I think it just tried to rain. In case you can't see out the window, are not living in London or would like to see what I see, here's a photo. Nice isn't it!

In case anyone actually reads this, here are the details of our leaving bash thingy-me-bob :-) Click me.

The Wedding Weekend!

03 July 2006
Terry and Lucy's wedding was on Saturday, the church in Goring-by-Sea and the reception in Arundel at the Town hall! Guys what a fantastic wedding, so relaxed and so much fun. Absolutely loved the Australian theme, BBQ and the Aussie weather. I will only just forgive you for putting me on the ACT table rather then the NSW one. Wishing both of you the very best, have a great Honeymoon!
Photos are here, enjoy!
